The Software Underground was founded in 2020. It is 100% powered by donations. About 25% of our donations come directly from our members in the form of voluntary subscriptions; the rest comes from corporate sponsors. Our annual budget is about $15k.
As of January 2021, there are 3075 members of our Slack workspace, with over 300 weekly active members. Our users send 6000 messages per month. Our first conference attracted about 750 participants, about half of whom were new.
